A Northern Californian couple denied abusing their 10 children after authorities stated that the youngsters endured multiple bruises, burns, puncture wounds, and injuries compatible with being shot with a pellet gun.
Stories like this one are all too familiar in the United States recently. I never understood why people bring more and more children into the world if they aren’t trying to be parents. In this case, the children, ages 4 months to 12 years, were taken from their home on March 31 after the mother, 30-year- old Ina Rogers, called authorities to state that her eldest child was missing, police said Monday.
Officers then traveled to the home in Fairfield which is about 40 miles northeast of San Francisco and were shocked to find the extremely filthy conditions, Lt. Greg Hurlbut said.
“Officers located unsafe and unsanitary living conditions including garbage and spoiled food on the floor, animal and human feces and a large amount of debris making areas of the house unpassable,” he said.
After further examining the children, they appeared to be covered in wounds consistent with pellet bullet infliction. Let’s not forget that these wounds were accompanied by serious burns and bruises all over their bodies.
Sharon Henry, chief deputy district attorney for Solano County, was terrified by the children’s statements and that abuse happened in the house “for sadistic purposes.” She declined to elaborate. These “parents” found it amusing and pleasurable to inflict pain on their own children. How sick is that?
Rogers, 30, was arrested last month on the suspicion of neglect last month and was then miraculously released after posting $10,000 bail.
Monday, Rogers denied that her husband has abused the children.
“There’s no broken bones, there is no major scars, nothing,” Rogers explained to reporters in front of her house. “My kids get bumped and bruised and scratched because they’re kids but that’s it.”
Rogers proceeded to give journalists a tour of the house, a four-bedroom home with scuffed walls and a bathroom covered with animal feces.
The father of the year, 29-year-old Jonathan Allen, was arrested Friday after the children were questioned. He has pleaded not guilty to nine counts of serious crime child and seven counts of torture and was being held on a whopping $5.2 million bail. This little piggy will more than likely not be able to post bail again.
