Yesterday many gathered in Washington, D.C. as the nation’s capital said goodbye to Senator John McCain. Former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama sat next to George W. Bush and fellow former First Lady Laura Bush. Both Presidents Bush and Obama gave eulogies at the funeral, praising their former political competitor.
One small but sweet moment caught between Michelle and George W. Bush has the internet obsessed. During the service, cameras capture Bush discreetly passing the former First Lady some candy from his wife Laura Bush. The exchange was not missed by viewers as many are in awe of their sweet moment.
Throughout the service, many gave warming remarks about McCain, but somehow still managed to take jabs at President Donald Trump without mentioning his name. Meghan McCain, McCain’s daughter, gave a heartfelt tribute to her father during the service “We gather here to mourn the passing of American greatness, the real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who live lives of comfort and privilege while he suffered and served,” she said during her eulogy.
Michelle was also pictured giving President Bush a warm hug while they both smiled leaving the service. These are moments that touched the nation tremendously.
