ATL Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms Claim Gov Kemp Attempted to ‘Restrain’ Her From Publicly Speaking on Mask Mandate

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms Urges People Not to Travel to Atlanta for All-Star Weekend

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms took to Twitter to reveal that Governor Kemp was attempting to “restrain” her from publicly speaking on the mask mandate.

She claims Kemp asked “for an emergency injunction to ‘restrain’ me from issuing any press statements and speaking to the press.” But she assured she wouldn’t stay tight lipped. “Far more have sacrificed too much for me to be silent,” she said.

Mayor Bottoms also spoke on the lawsuit Kemp fired off against her. “To be sued based upon issuing voluntary advisory recommendations really is just a waste of taxpayer money in our state. I think a better use of taxpayer money would be to expand testing and contact tracing in our state, and not to waste it on suing me personally and our Atlanta City Council personally simply because we’re trying to save lives in our city.”

The Mayor started to enforce strict rules for COVID-19 precautions and Gov Kemp sued her and the city council. This lawsuit is on behalf of the Atlanta business owners and their hardworking employees who are struggling to survive during these difficult time. These men and women are doing their very best to put food on the table for their families while local elected officials shutter businesses and undermine economic growth.”

Mayor Bottoms pointed out that Savannah enforced a city-wide mandate first, followed by Athens, and she followed behind those two cities. But unfortunately, Kemp sued her after Donald Trump’s visit to Atlanta.

Keisha Lance Bottoms, who also tested positive for the coronavirus, said, “It is very clear that the governor is putting politics over people.”
