Central Park 5 Prosecutor Linda Fairstein to Sue Ava Duvernay, Netflix for ‘When They See Us’

Ava DuVernay, Netflix Seek to Dismiss D.A.'s 'When They See Us' Defamation Lawsuit

The woman who prosecuted the Central Park 5, Linda Fairstein, is suing Ava Duvernay and Netflix for her portrayal in the groundbreaking series When They See Us.

There’s a pandemic going on but Fairstein found the time on Wednesday to file the lawsuit saying that she issued a warning before the project dropped. She was concerned about being defamed in the film and felt like she was portrayed in a false manner.

Once the docu-series was released Fairstein expressed her disapproval saying her character appeared as a “racist, unethical villain who is determined to jail innocent children of color at any cost.”

In her lawsuit that TMZ managed to get their hands on, Fairstein denied every single thing in the movie: Interrogating unaccompanied minors, suppressing DNA evidence, describing Black people using derogatory terms, directing NYPD detectives to coerce confessions, and manipulating the timeline of the jogger’s rape.

If you’ve seen When They See Us then you’d know how ruthless Linda Fairstein’s character was, and how her unethical actions sabotaged the lives of those five men. Almost a year later, and in the midst of the growing COVID-19 crisis, she’s saying it’s all cap.
