McDonald's Employees Are Boycotting Against Sexual Harassment at Work

Words by Tahnyl Jordan

McDonald’s employees in over 10 cities will walk out today over claims that the drive-thru food monster isn’t doing what they should to avoid sexual harassment.

25 ladies filed complaints against the chain, claiming it neglected to enforce the rules that are in place in regards to the behavior that has been going on. The ladies said they were ignored after reporting what was happening to them with actions including grabbing, indecent exposure, and nasty remarks.

The fast food restaurant claims there is “no place for harassment” at its eateries.  Coordinators said the strike would focus on various restaurants in urban areas including Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami. Hundreds of staff members are going to be walking out.

McDonald’s has a sexual harassment policy yet the protestors – who are sponsored with Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund – need to see some changes.  They say their claims are handled poorly and that all employees should go through anti-harassment training so moving forward everyone is aware of what is truly expected of them.
