I'm Good Luv: Shaggy Reportedly Passed on Rihanna Collab Because She Asked Him to Audition

Rihanna’s highly-anticipated R9 album is rumored to be a reggae album, so a Shaggy feature would be fitting. But unfortunately, we will not be getting a collaboration from the Caribbean artists anytime soon.

“Mr. Boombastic” revealed that the singer turned beauty mogul asked him to audition for his spot on the project, which he felt he didn’t have to do at this level in his career. “They approached me for the Rihanna project, yeah,” he told Britain’s Daily Star, MadameNoire reports. “There’s a lot of great people involved, but for me, I didn’t need to audition to be on the record, I’ll leave that to younger guys.”

But to assure that there were no hard feelings, the 51-year-old reggae veteran added, “But from what I hear it should be good!”

Fans have been waiting for the Anti follow-up for years now. Rihanna claimed she was going to release the collection in 2019 but it’s now 2020 and it’s still not here.

Riri is out here shaking up the beauty industry and giving Victoria’s Secret a run for their money. She’ll return to the music when she feels like it.
