YG Released From Custody in Time for Scheduled Grammys Performance in Honor of Nipsey Hussle

Here's What Really Happened at YG's 'Video Shoot' During the Black Lives Matter Protest

YG’s home was raided and he was arrested and charged with robbery on Friday evening. Many people including The Game thought it was a coincidence that the LAPD had the “FDT” rapper in their radar ahead of his scheduled performance at the Grammys.

“Funny how @YG gets arrested the weekend of the Grammy’s when he’s supposed to hit the stage in Nip’s honor. #LAPDtheBiggestGangHere,” he tweeted.

A couple of Twitter users clowned that he was responsible for the arrest so that he can take YG’s place in the Nipsey Hussle tribute, but it looks like there won’t be a need for a replacement.

The “Big Bank” artist was released from Men’s Central jail on bond around 9:00 p.m. on Friday, according to online records. He recruited high-profile attorney, Joe Tacopina, who says there’s “no truth” to the charges.

The Compton rapper was served a search warrant around 4:00 am on Friday “in the furtherance of an on-going criminal investigation.” He was arrested and his bail was set at $250,000.

“YG has a performance scheduled at the Grammy’s on Sunday where he will honor Nipsey Hussle… so the timing is suspect, to put it mildly,” Tacopina added in the statement.

We’re glad that he’s home and would get to perform for Nip. He might use the moment to publicly comment but we’ll just have to wait and see.
