Juneteenth was on Friday and Beyonce dropped a new song in celebration of the holiday.

The song “Black Parade” was released with an extended version exclusively on the streaming platform Tidal promoting Black Pride. She released the song on Juneteenth (June 19th), a day in which we celebrate the end of slavery in the United States.

“Happy Juneteenth weekend! I hope we continue to share joy and celebrate each other, even in the midst of struggle. Please continue to remember our beauty, strength and power,” the singer wrote on Instagram. “’BLACK PARADE’ celebrates you, your voice and your joy and will benefit Black-owned small businesses.”

The track’s message is about empowerment and resilience that centers around the recent Black Lives Matter protests in the wake of the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer. “Rubber bullets bouncin’ off me / Made a picket sign off your picket fence,” Beyonce sings.

Along with the track, the singer unrolled an online directory that highlights Black-owned artists and other businesses through her BeyGOOD charitable foundation. Proceeds from the song benefit BeyGOOD’s Black Business Impact Fund.
