Beyoncé leads the 2021 NAACP Image Awards nominees

Beyoncé is taking the lead in the 2021 NAACP Image Awards this month. The NAACP unveils their nominees for the awards with Beyoncé leading with six nominations.

Beyonce continues to contribute black excellence during this black history month!

The 52nd annual NAACP Image Awards were announced Tuesday. Announcements came from Anika Noni Rose, TC Carson, Erika Alexander, Nicco Annan, and grown-ish star Chloe Bailey.

Queen Bey takes on the lead with six nominations. Her nominations mark the most for any recording artist! This includes Outstanding Female Artist and Outstanding Soul/R&B for her 2020 song, “Black Parade.”  Her Disney+ film, Black Is King, lands three nods, including Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album.  Beyoncé is also receiving a nomination for her feature on Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Savage” remix.

Other nominees in the Outstanding Female Artist category include Alicia Keys and H.E.R. Additionally, Sibling duo Chloe x Halle is receiving four nods. Also, Hit-Boy, the executive producer behind Nas‘ King’s Disease, is nominated for Outstanding Producer of the Year.

PJ Morton is also receiving two nods for his album, Gospel According to PJ.  Morton is also on the list for his “Anything for You“, a duet with Ledisi.

Meanwhile, Regina King, Viola Davis, Tyler Perry, D-Nice, and Trevor Noah were among the nominees for Entertainer of the Year — marking King’s third consecutive nomination in the category. King’s directorial debut, One Night in Miami, received six nominations, including Outstanding Motion Picture.

Viola Davis picked up three nods, including Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for 2020’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which received 10 nominations overall.

After one season, 50 Cent‘s Starz series, Power Book III: Ghost, was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, alongside other new series including HBO’s Lovecraft Country, and Netflix’s Bridgerton.

The 2021 NAACP Image Awards airs on BET and for the first time on CBS on March 27th at 8 p.m. ET.
