Drake finally broke his silence after taking the stage at Astroworld, which resulted in a mass casualty once Travis Scott took the stage.
The Toronto emcee made an appearance at the annual event that had about 50,000 festivalgoers. “I’ve spent the past few days trying to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy,” Drake wrote in a post to Instagram.
“My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering,” he added. “I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in any way I can.”
Drake was named in a lawsuit in addition to Astroworld organizers and Travis Scott filed by Kristian Paredes. The 23-year-old wants $1 million after reportedly being pushed into the general admission’s metal barrier and suffering permanent injury.
“There is every indication that the performers, organizers, and venue were not only aware of the hectic crowd but also that injuries and potential deaths may have occurred,” Paredes’ attorney Thomas J. Henry said. “Still, they decided to put profits over their attendees and allowed the deadly show to go on.”
Travis is facing widespread backlash as #CancelTravisScott trends on Twitter and he’s hit with a mountain of lawsuits.
