New York took home another W yesterday after Fat Joe and Ja Rule took the stage at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater for their highly-anticipated Verzuz celebration.
The Hip Hop veterans brought the whole city out! Angie Martinez, Busta Rhymes, Ruff Ryders’ Waah Dean, and more legends were spotted in the floor section. More attendees included Rowdy Rebel, Shiggy, June Bug, and many more.
I arrived at the Verzuz just in time for the second half because the venue was not playing about the vaccination cards! But just like Ja Rule and Ashanti, I’m always on time!
I missed the moment when Fat Joe or should I say Joey Crack referred to Lil Mo and Vita as “dusty b*tches” and said they can be located at a crack house.
Despite that disrespectful hiccup that was later smoothened out with an apology by Joe, the night was one for the books.
“Yesterday’s hits are not today’s hits,” the Bronx native chanted before playing songs like “Sunshine,” “Yes,” and “I Won’t Tell.” But Ja kept things classic “Clap Back” and “Down Ass B*tch.”
Things heated up when Fat Joe brought Nelly out to perform “Get It Poppin'” followed up by an impromptu performance of “Hot In Herrre.” Of course, the crowd was wondering which artist was going to bring Ashanti out first but Ja had first dibs on his frequent collaborator for their song “Mezmerized.”
The singer stayed on stage to perform “What’s Luv,” which Ja Rule revealed that he wrote the hook for and “wish I would’ve kept it for myself.”
It was a full circle moment when Fat Joe and Ja Rule performed New York and was joined by Jadakiss, who has been declared the Verzuz King.
