The highly-anticipated Janet Jackson documentary finally has a release date, and from the looks of the trailer below, it’s juicy!
“You’ve been very private about your personal life up until now. Why did you want to do this documentary?” the singer is asked in the clip before responding, “It’s just something that needs to be done.”
The teaser features a few of Janet’s friends including Missy Elliott, Ciara, and Paula Abdul. “The greatest showwoman,” Samuel L. Jackson described her before Janelle Monae credited her for “a lot of the image that is out today.”
The Grammy-award winning singer is leaving no stone unturned: From the emotional struggles she faced during her rise to fame, her relationship with her late brother, Michael Jackson, her motherhood journey, and the infamous Super Bowl incident with Justin Timberlake.
“They build you up and then once you get there, they’re so quick to tear you down,” Janet Jackson shared in the documentary as images of a newspaper headline that read, “Jackson Banned From Grammys after Super Bowl Stunt” flashed across the screen.
JANET, which the trailer says took “five years in the making” and features “never before seen footage.”
The four-part Janet Jackson documentary is set for a two-night premiere on January 28th on Lifetime and A&E.
