 JAY-Z is now the artist with the most Grammy nominations of all time, He received three more nominations from the Recording Academy on Tuesday, bringing his total count to 83. Surpassing Quincy Jones, whom he was previously tied with for at 80 nominations. JAY-Z was nominated in the album of the year category for his work on Kanye West’s Donda, and received two nominations for best rap song for his features on DMX’s “Bath Salts” and “West’s Jail”.
Jay-Z has won 23 Grammy Awards in his career, including Best Urban Contemporary Album for “Everything Is Love” in 2018 and four Best Rap Song wins, including for “Empire State of Mind” and “Savage.” Jay first earned three Grammy nominations in 1999 for his mainstream breakout album Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life, picking up nods in the Best Rap Album, Best Rap Solo Performance, and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or a Group categories. Beyoncé, and Paul McCartney previously shared the position of second-most nominated artist. However, the former “Beatles” musician received two nominations in the rock category on Tuesday.
Jay Z has had quiet a month, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, where among tributes he received that night was a taped video message from former President Barack Obama. He was also honored by Dave Chappelle, who gave an in-person speech at the ceremony in Cleveland. While a few weeks ago, a Manhattan jury has found Jay-Z, not guilty of breaching an endorsement deal with Parlux for a “Gold Jay-Z” fragrance brand by neglecting to properly promote it, allowing him to avoid paying $67 million in penalties.

The 64th annual Grammy Awards will be held on Jan. 31, 2022, at Staples Center iJan. 31, 2022, in Los Angeles, in a broadcast that will air live on CBS.
