Jermaine Dupri continues to defend the strength of his catalog amid his Verzuz battle on Instagram live with Diddy.

The Bad Boy Records head honcho insists that Dr. Dre is the only worthy opponent and JD isn’t letting that slide easy.

During a sit-down with V103 Atlanta, the So So Def head honcho explained why he has more than enough hits to go head-to-head with the fellow music legend.

“Let me say this to y’all, everybody, be clear,” Dupri said. “I just want to make sure everybody understands this. I am in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. I am in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Puff Daddy’s not in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Steve Stoute and the Trackmasters are not in the Hall of Fame.”

Jermaine Dupri was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018 courtesy of timeless records like Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together” and Usher’s “U Got It Bad.”

“It’s only four of us. Me, Dallas Austin, Jay-Z, and Missy Elliott—when it comes to songwriting… I shouldn’t have to play nothing,” JD said. “Y’all should have to hear his music. I am in a seat that Puff Daddy can’t pay for. You have to write songs, and as far as I’m concerned, as far as I’m concerned, I don’t know if he’ll ever get in that club.”

It’s only a matter of time before Diddy responds to the comments about his pen game. Are you excited for the Verzuz battle between Jermaine Dupri and Diddy?
