Lil Nas X Reacts To Kidz Bop Version for “Montero”

Lil Nas X was very amused and supportive of the new Kidz Bop clean version of “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”. The writers have completely removed his R-rated verses and replaced them with cheerful lines about vacations and good dinners in the new version. Kidz Bop is a music brand that produces “family-friendly” covers of popular songs, often replacing suggestive lyrics with  more neutral ones. Lil Nas X came across the Kidz Bop version and shared the family-friendly single when it was first released, commenting “release of the night.” While he find it hilarious, he did admit that they did a good job and encouraged fans to give the a listen.

One of Lil Nas X’s “Montero” lyrics reads, “I wanna sell what you’re buying / I wanna feel on yo’ ass in Hawaii / I want that jet lag from f*cking and flying / Shoot a child in your mouth while I’m riding.” But Kidz Bop’s version is much different: “I wanna sell what you’re buyin’ / I wanna lie on the beach in Hawaii / I want that jet lag from livin’ and flyin’ / Put a smile on your face whilst we’re dining’.”  Fans were definitely feeling the new version, they went on twitter sharing their reactions.

Lil Nas X popularity began in 2019 when his song “Old Town Road” broke the record for the longest-running No. 1 on Billboard. Lil Nas X confirmed his sexuality during the 19 weeks that “Old Town Road” was at the top of the charts, coming out as homosexual on World Pride Day 2019. Since then, he’s grown into one of the most well-known Black LGBTQ pop musicians, attracting both fans and haters.

He will also be joining the 2021 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour with lineup of artists including Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Jonas Brothers, Doja CatMegan Thee Stallion and more. The 2021 tour will stop in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Atlanta and Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.

Fans can tune in to watch the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball live from New York on Friday, December 10th via an exclusive livestream on The CW App and CWTV.com. The event will also be broadcast live on all iHeartRadio CHR stations nationwide.
