New Song by Quavo "Without You" Pays Tribute to Takeoff

Quavo breaks his silence on social media and pays tribute to the late Takeoff with a new song celebrating his life.

Hip-hop and the Black community lost one of its most influential artists two months ago when Migos member Takeoff, legally Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed at a bowling alley in downtown Houston. Quavo, a member of the Migos and uncle to Takeoff, was heavily affected by his passing and he’s expressing his emotions with his new song: “Without You.”

After taking much-needed time to process the tragic death of his nephew right in front of him, Quavo reflects on the highs and lows of their time spent together. Over a mournful production, Quavo raps, “On the Nawfside, times were hard, but them days was better/ I wish I had a time machine/ I miss just how you smile at me.”

The lyrics favor his lengthy tribute to Takeoff that he posted on Instagram after the funeral. “Since we were kids you been by my side lookin up at me, them eyes waitin on me to make the next move,” he wrote, “I’m proud to say I’ve seen your blessings, I’ve seen you blessed me, you blessed mama. Love you nephew!”

According to Rolling Stone, Patrick Clark, the prime suspect in the Takeoff murder case, was released from jail on Wednesday after posting a $1 million bond. Clark was arrested based on video evidence and fingerprints matched to a wine bottle that was left on the scene.

Clark pleaded not guilty to the murder charges.
