Review: 'Power' Episode 13 'It's All Your Fault'

There are only two more episodes left until we find out who shot Ghost. Its been a roller coaster watching Power for the past six years but it ends with Omari Hardwick’s character getting fatally shot, without a chance to live a completely legit life.

It was clear during the season six mid-season premiere of the Starz series that we’d be getting the How to Get Away With Murder treatment, but I’m not mad at it.

I was personally anticipating the episode centered around Tommy because I knew it wouldn’t disappoint. The gangsta white boy is a fan-favorite and although there was an emotional ending, it was good to see him learn the truth.

But the emotional interactions and facial gestures are the only clues we have to figuring out who’s Ghost’s killer. Let’s break down episode 13 titled, “It’s All Your Fault”

*SPOILER ALERT*

It’s a relief to know that when Tommy was on his way to Truth he wasn’t on his way to kill Ghost. He was actually on his way to save him because at the end of his adventurous day he learned that his brother was telling the truth about not killing Lakeisha in retaliation for him killing Angela. Ghost was also cleared on Tommy’s father’s death, and the shutdown of his entire drug operation.

The reason why Tommy is always in drama or frequently hears the phrase, “It’s all your fault,” is because he thinks emotionally rather than rationally. Aside from falsely accusing Ghost of sabotaging his love life and money, Tommy accused his partner, BG, of being a rat. But little did he know he was missing in action because Dre blew his brains out.

But he caught some sense when he spotted Tasha’s earring with Lakeisha’s belongings. After Tommy has been on a wild goose chase trying to kill Ghost for a murder he didn’t commit, it was a bit lazy on the writer’s behalf to reveal the truth to him so easily. Nevertheless, it was relieving to know that Tommy could ease up on Ghost.

For a minute, I actually thought Tommy was going to pull the trigger on Tasha. But then I remembered at the end of Paz’s episode she went to collect whatever she got from Ghost’s will and surprisingly told Paz that Tommy was the one who killed Angela. I’ll get back to this point later because it’s a very important detail for my #WhoShotGhost theory.

Elise Marie showed up and showed out this episode. It was a savory moment watching the character development of the young supporting actress who we know little about in just an hour. Fans were concerned about young Proctor’s future after both her parents died, so this episode was well needed.

Shout outs to the show creators for using Elise Marie to speak for Tommy and show how he really feels about losing everyone he loves, and feeling all alone in the world. Tommy is better with kids than he actually gives himself credit for.

But let’s speed up to the suspects of Ghost’s murder: I almost forgot how much I couldn’t stand Tariq until this episode. But this time his actions are actually justified because his father didn’t hold it down for Ray Ray’s murder like he initially promised. But he still thinks he’s grown and needs his ass whooped. Tommy tried to give Tariq some real life lessons after gunning down his own father, but we all know that boy’s head is hard. But the eyebrow raiser was that Tariq met Tommy at the Brooklyn Bridge dressed up like Ghost but we didn’t know if he was on his way or leaving Truth Nightclub. He might have been exiting the party if you realistically consider the timing after Tommy cleaned up Vincent and his crew. But during this time Tariq could’ve been shooting his father, which sets him up as the perfect King Pin for the upcoming spin-off series starring Mary J. Blige and Method Man.

So Tariq is definitely still a suspect but the look on Tommy’s face when he saw the shooter, makes me think that it could’ve possibly been Tasha.

Rewind back to when I touched on Tommy confronting Tasha for killing Lakeisha. Tommy is a cold-blooded killer that doesn’t leave any stone unturned. So his initial instinct was to retaliate against Tasha for lying about killing Lakeisha, but he didn’t pull the trigger after she turned her back preparing for the worst. He just walked out the door without saying a word. Which will explain his emotional reaction to discovering the shooter, which Ghost had to tell him “let it go” (or “let her go” according to some Twitter users). If he dealt with Tasha in her apartment then Ghost had one less person off his trail.

I don’t think he would’ve hesitated to kill Ramona, Tate, and especially Saxe who are the other remaining suspects. But Ghost’s facial expression while he falls off the balcony suggests that the killer is someone who is close to him. Additionally, he saved the shooter at the end when Tommy tried to seek revenge, which makes me believe it was Tasha.

Another reason I think it was Tasha is because Tasha telling Paz that Tommy killed her sister was very left field and could’ve been a set up. Tasha shot Ghost, Tommy saw her in the club before Ghost took his last breath, and she thought Tommy would stay on her trail and kill her. Tasha also does have a reputation of being a grimey, ride or die chick, who was the master mind for setting up Kanan in the first place. So it won’t be out of her character to save her ass.

But he ultimately went West in his restored Mustang that his brother who loved him unconditionally left. We all knew Tommy didn’t shoot Ghost, which is why I couldn’t hold back tears when Ghost died in Tommy’s arms.

Watching Tommy’s evolution throughout the show was a pleasure and I’m happy to see him become his own man. This was the first episode that made viewers actually feel like Power is coming to an end.
