It’s been six years since Riri’s last musical effort. Anti featured fan-favorites like “Needed Me” and “Love on the Brain,” which served as the soundtrack for toxic love stories. The Navy has been sitting at the edge of their seats waiting for new music and it’s unclear if the halftime performance will consist of new songs.

Rihanna has been relentlessly teasing this project for years while revealing little to no details about it. In the Super Bowl teaser, the Bajan native acknowledges the public’s growing thirst for new music. Dressed in a black bodysuit and a bold green fur coat, she slowly walks out of the shadows and into the light as soundbites play in the background of people saying things like, “Rih Rih where have you been,” “Rihanna is who everybody is waiting for,” and “We’ve been impatiently waiting for the return of Rihanna.” The audio is cut once the video fades to black then she appears in the spotlight. Her bright makeup (Fenty products, of course) is painted on and piercing eyes look into the camera as she puts her finger over her lips, demanding silence as “Needed Me” plays in the background while she walks away.

Rihanna hasn’t completely withheld music from her fans since Anti. Last year, she appeared on Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack with her tribute song, “Lift Me Up.”
