Black transgender women have been put on the spotlight in shows like Orange is the New Black, Star, Pose, and now Love and Hip Hop.
L&HH star, Sidney Starr publicly expressed her interest in Malik Yoba after he openly discussed his attraction to transgender women. “So I’ve held this in long enough guys! It’s time I let it be known, I’m going to get my MAN @malikyoba tomorrow !” Starr wrote in the Instagram post below before admitting that she took a page out of Bobby Lytes love book. “Yeap I’m going to the Trans March tomorrow and I’m confessing my love for you , I’ve loved you ever since New York undercover!!! I’m following the footsteps of my boo @bobbylytes if he won’t come to me Then I’m coming to him ! PERIOD!!!! ⛪️💑💋 #SidneyStarr #MalikYoba US!!!! Tag him for me y’all.”

The New York Undercover actor didn’t respond to Sidney Starr but he recently took to Instagram to call out homophobia and transphobia within the Black community.
“TRANS PEOPLE DESERVE LOVE AND RESPECT AS DO THOSE OF US THAT LOVE THEM!! I love ALL women AND count MYSELF among those that find themselves trans attracted and I too have felt the self imposed shame that comes with that truth but it’s time to speak up. It is NOT about GENITALIA OR SEX but about attraction to the soul and humanity of an individual and often the beauty that is in the courage and conviction to live ones truth! As a self identified cis heterosexual man I too am learning what it means to be trans attracted. Many of us famous and otherwise that have struggled with accepting our attraction so we do NOTHING. This MUST change,” he wrote.
Yoba also referenced the 20-year-old, Maurice “Reese” Willoughby, who committed suicide after getting cyber bullied for dating a trans-woman.
The 51-year-old actor revealed his personal attraction to transgender women and promoted the upcoming National Trans March in DC.
