Fans of the hit early 2000’s Disney Channel original show The Proud Family will be happy to know that a revival of the hit show is due to hit Disney+ in 2022.
The revival titled The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder will feature A-listers from the worlds of music, film, TV, and sports including Lizzo, Lil Nas X, Chance the Rapper, Normani, Leslie Odom Jr., Tiffany Haddish, Lena Waithe, Anthony Anderson, Gabrielle Union, Debbie Allen, James Pickens Jr., Courtney B. Vance, Jane Lynch, Marsai Martin, and many more. It has been 20 years since the show originally aired.
It was the first animated series on the Disney Channel to star a Black character and was centered on teenager Penny Proud and her family.
Kyla Pratt played the show’s protagonist Penny Proud and is onboard to reprise her role. other OG cast members that have joined the reboot to include Tommy Davidson as Penny’s over the top entrepreneur father Oscar Proud; Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, Penny’s level headed mother, Jo Marie Payton as Suga Mama Penny’s Larger than life Grandmother and Penny’s besties Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones; Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howze; and Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez. Cedric the Entertainer could not be left out as Penny’s infamous singer Uncle Bobby Proud.
