Travis Scott held his third annual Astroworld Festival in Houston and the first day ended in chaos, with a reported 11 people dead and hundreds injured following a stampede.
It’s unclear how things popped off, but eyewitness reports claim that the attendees began rushing to the front of the stage as the “Antidote” rapper took the stage.
“The crowd began to compress toward the front of the stage, and people began to panic,” according to Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña.
Travis Scott broke his silence early Saturday afternoon. “I am absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival,” La Flame wrote.
He continued, “I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support families in need.”
Travis concluded his statement thanking all the first responders and the venue, “Love You All.”
