Whitney Houston's Best Friend Confirms Bobby Brown Didn't Introduce the Singer to Cocaine

Whitney Houston’s “best friend,” Robyn Crawford, is gearing up to release a memoir, but it sounds more like a tell-all book.

Crawford, who alleges that she had a physical and romantic relationship with the late singer before her rise to fame, shares some of the stories that would be told in the book, A Song for You: My Life With Whitney Houston.

For years the public blamed Bobby Brown for introducing Houston to cocaine, which he has denied, and now Crawford appeared on Dateline NBC to confirm that he really didn’t.

The New Edition singer had a “bad boy” reputation and Houston was known as a singing sweetheart, but Robyn told the host, Craig Melvin, that they used cocaine together.

“I would remind Whitney that, ‘Now, you know, we said doing coke couldn’t go where we’re going and we’re already there. So we shouldn’t be doing it.’ And I’d notice that she would go ahead and do it. She was having difficulty stopping,” Robyn said. She also acknowledged the rumors about Bobby Brown but stated, “[Whitney] wasn’t doing it regularly, but she would do it sometimes and sometimes might, you know, overdo it. But, you know, Bobby, he didn’t introduce her to cocaine. No.”

Dateline NBC’s A Song for Whitney special airs Saturday, November 9. Crawford will also appear live in-studio on TODAY for her first live interview on Monday, November 11.

The book is slated to be released on Tuesday, November 12th.
