YG made an appearance on The Breakfast Club yesterday and he spoke about an array of topics from his latest album, 4Real 4Real to the fake love Nipsey Hussle has been receiving since his passing.

In the midst of the conversation, Angela Ye asked him about his opportunity to star in John Singleton’s FX series, Snowfall.

“How you heard about that?” The Bompton rapper responded surprisingly. “Rest in peace John Singleton … I auditioned for Snowfall, I got the role. I was one of the main dudes with the lil group of young n*ggas. The main Black dude, I was one of his homies.” the “Go Loko” rapper revealed.

“That must’ve been heard to turn down,” Ye said. “I didn’t turn it down, my heart got broke,” he said. “After that sh*t happened [what happened] I stopped going on auditions and sh*t for a long time. I was just mad. I was like ‘Man, F*ck this lil TV/film sh*t.”

Charlamagne Tha God attempted to gain clarity by asking YG what incident he was referring to but he continued. “‘Cause like, I got the role right it’s like the Summertime 2015 … I’m going on auditions, boom. I get the role John Singleton like alright we gonna start filming in September you gotta be ready. I go on tour with J. Cole and I get off like first week of September, so I’m ready. I got off a tour and he called me like a week before like ‘yeah the production company said we were doing a show for FX they don’t want to use you because they did their homework and just seen you got shot and they don’t really wanna like yeah, yeah, yeah.'”

The irony of it all is the show is about selling crack in the 1980’s in Los Angeles so the Compton native would’ve been a nice, authentic addition to the series.

Fortunately, he didn’t give up and got the opportunity to flex his acting chops in White Boy Rick alongside Matthew McConaughey last year. The “FDT” rapper plans to continue auditioning so look out for him on the big or small screen.
