Taylor Richardson, 14, launched a GoFundMe account to raise money to help 1,000 girl see the upcoming film, A Wrinkle In Time.
During a Good Morning America interview Richardson explained,
I wanted all girls, especially girls of color, to know they can be whatever they want to be when they grow up and also can struggle and have flaws and still be successful in life.
The young teen’s initial goal was to raise $15,000, which would be used towards movie tickets and a private screening of the sci-fi flick. Since she surpassed her goal, she’ll use the extra bread to buy 100 girls a copy of the book, and the rest of the proceeds will be donated to the Astronaut StarBright Space Camp scholarship.
This isn’t Richardon’s first successful fundraiser. At the tender age of 9 years old, she raised enough money to send herself to space camp. She also raised over $18,000 to send 1,000 girls to see “Hidden Figures.”
