The highly-anticipated Verzuz battle between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole is postponed because Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19.
“Hey y’all I can’t believe I’m saying this but I tested positive for COVID-19,” the “Foolish” singer announced on Instagram. “I’m ok and not in any pain. I’m actually down to do the verzuz from my house… We’re trying to figure it all out.”
But it looks like an executive decision was made to postpone the event. An official announcement was made on the Verzuz TV’s Instagram account. “Unfortunately, we have to postpone tonight’s @Ashanti vs @KeyshiaCole #VERZUZ. Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19 beforehand, and we cannot put anyone at risk in the process. First time this has struck us so close to showtime. We apologize to our incredible audience!
Get well soon, Ashanti 💜🖤💚 Wear a mask, stay inside, and take COVID-19 seriously. It’s truly affecting our community 😷😪”
Keyshia joined Ashanti on live to give her friendly rival some kind words.
Early 2000’s R&B fans will just have to sit tight until after the new year to witness one of the best Verzuz battles in virtual history. The new date is January 9th.
