Recording Academy CEO Reveals Beyonce Declined To Perform At The Grammys

Beyonce is looking at the Grammys like, “Is you dumb?”

Despite being the most nominated artist with 9 nominations at the Grammys this year, Beyonce will not take the stage.

In true Yonce fashion, she didn’t confirm or deny reports or her attendance at the ceremony. “It’s unfortunate because she’s such a big part of the Recording Academy,” the nonprofit group’s interim CEO Harvey Mason Jr. told the newspaper of Beyoncé’s decision not to perform. “We absolutely wish we had her onstage.”

This marks the third time in recent history when a Black artist who was leading the pack, opted to skip the award show. Kendrick Lamar had the most nominations in 2019, and JAY-Z in 2018, and both artists didn’t perform.

Beyonce has performed numerous times at the Grammys previously, but fans speculate that she’s subtly taking a stand against the Recording Academy who has infamously built a reputation of excluding Black artists.

The Beyhive feels like their Queen was snubbed of the Album of the Year Award for Lemonade, which went to Adele who dedicated her award to Bey.

It is worth noting that the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing and Beyonce has small children at home who are still learning remotely. She just might not be in the mood *Kanye shrugs*
