Cardi B and star Penn Badgley (aka Joe) have started an online twitter friendship. It all started On Sunday, a 2019 interview with MYX Global, resurfaced where Badgley expressed how he admires Cardi B’s ability to be “authentic.”
In the video Badgley, discussed the negative ways in which his You character, Joe Goldberg, uses social media — and said that he isn’t as social savvy in real life.
“I think Joe reveals the unsettling logic that actually a lot of us are following in the worst way socially. But I think in the best way, it is a tool and there’s nothing inherently wrong with that tool at all,” Badgley said, later adding: “When I try to do something on social media, it’s pathetic.”He continued, “I really appreciate people who have this totally second-nature relationship to it, because that’s when you have something meaningful and substantive to post, then I think it really comes through and people appreciate it all the more. Cardi B is a great example of that , she has such an authentic relationship.”
“To me, it’s this incredibly nuanced place to be, and despite what many might judge as antics, I feel she has an incredibly authentic relationship to that, and I think that’s why people like her so much,” he said.
The video quickly caught Cardi attention and she responded with excitement “HE KNOWS ME !!!OMMMGGGG!!!!!!Yoooo like I’m famous famous,”she tweeted in response to the clip.
Badgley responded with a simple “I-” then doubled down on his fan status by changing his profile picture to a headshot of Cardi B. The rapper also swapped her profile pic to one of the actor.
On Monday during a interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Badgley was asked if fans could expect to see Cardi B guest-star on “You,” Badgley pointed to a petition circulating online.
“I definitely can’t say, but there is actually, I believe this is true, there’s an actual Change.org petition,” Badgley told Kimmel. fans are asking for Cardi B to make an guest appearance on season 4.
