The upbeat J.R. Rotem-produced cut marks her return after a brief hiatus following the release of her 2015 album, Jackie.
The song’s title directly references Cici’s controversial #LevelUp marriage tweet that she was dragged for. She later cleared up the message and explained being at her “lowest moment” as a single mom.
Ciara declares her comeback on the record. “Them old mistakes are gone / I won’t do them no more / That’s old news, there’s new news / I done did that before / I turned them into something / My comeback on one hunnit,” she sings on the bouncy tune.
In early 2017, she inked a Warner Bros. deal which paved the way for a new album expected to drop this year. Until then, listen to “Level Up” below:
