Dr. Dre’s Series Rejected by Apple CEO Due to Violence

Words by Tahnyl Jordan

Dr. Dre’s TV series hit a roadbump. On Saturday (Sept. 22), the Wall Street Journal announced that Vital Signs, which is a semi-autobiographical show Dre created for Apple, was dismissed by Apple CEO Tim Cook for being too violent.

Clearly Cook saw the six-episode series himself before revealing to Interscope co-founder and current Apple executive, Jimmy Iovine that the show highlighted too many violent scenes. Along with gun violence, the show also shows sex scenes and scenes with drug usage. Neither Dre nor Cook have talked about the rejection of the show.

Vital Signs was initially reported back in the winter of 2016 and it’s been disclosed that Michael K. Williams, Sam Rockwell and Ian McShane were stars on the show. At the time, it was accounted for that every scene of the arrangement gathered be “focusing on a different emotion and how Dre’s character deals with it.”

While Vital Signs is practically no more, that doesn’t mean Dre has had time off. Back in July, it was reported that the Good Doctor was mixing and mastering Anderson .Paak’s, Oxnard album. In the caption for his celebratory post, which incorporated a picture of himself with .Paak, Dre let free the uplifting news. “Just finished mixing the album. It’s a celebration b—–s!”

We may not be getting the chance to see Vital Signs, but at least we’ll get some music soon!
