New York Emcee Fred the Godson Dies From Coronavirus Complications at 35

New York City is in mourning after losing Fred the Godson to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bronx emcee Fred the Godson has passed away from complications from the virus. Sources close to the rapper confirmed the tragic loss. The 35-year-old, also known as Gordo, gained notoriety with tracks like the “Toast To That” collaboration with Jadakiss, and “Doves Fly” featuring Pusha T.

Fred announced his positive diagnosis on April 6 when he uploaded a photo on Instagram from the hospital while wearing an oxygen mask to help him breathe. He asked his fans to keep him in their prayers. Days after Fred’s wife told media outlets that he was slowly coming off the ventilator hoping to fully recover, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

It’s unclear if he was ever released from the hospital. Celebrities including Dave East, Vina Love, Jaquae& Jadakiss paid homage to Fred the Godson via social media. Our thoughts & prayers are with his family and friends at this tough time.
