Gervonta Davis was locked up for manhandling his baby’s mother, Dretta, at a celebrity basketball game during Super Bowl weekend in Miami.
The WBA lightweight champion surrendered on February 1st for the now-viral incident.
TMZ reports that the 25-year-old is facing one count of “simple battery domestic violence.”
As you can see in the video, Davis aggressively pulls Dretta out of her seat without saying much, and the argument continued backstage. According to The Neighborhood Talk, Davis was upset because she was at the game with Floyd Mayweather’s team.
Authorities say, “As a result of an ongoing investigation after being notified through social media and the victim, on Feb. 1 2020, [Davis] was observed battering his former girlfriend whom [sic] have child together.”
“[Davis] surrendered himself, to the Coral Gables Police detectives assigned to the case.”
Gervonta Davis denied hitting Dretta in his Instagram story shortly after it happened. “I never once hit her … yeah I was aggressive and told her come on,” he wrote. “That’s the mother of my child. I would never hurt her.”
The ‘Invasion of Privacy’ rapper dropped the bomb during an Instagram livestream on Sunday night.
