Gucci donated $500,000 to the forthcoming gun control march, March For Our Lives, scheduled for next month in Washington.
The Italian powerhouse issued a statement saying that they stand with the movement because “we have all been directly or indirectly impacted by these senseless tragedies.” Creative Director, Alessandro Michele told WWD that he is truly moved by the courage of the students.
My love is with them, and it will be next to them on March 24. I am standing with March for Our Lives and the strong young women and men across the United States who are fighting for their generation and those to come.
March For Our Lives is a nationwide student organization who “will no longer risk their lives waiting for someone else to take action to stop the epidemic of mass school shootings,” per their mission statement. The movement became mainstream following the Parkland, Florida shooting that left 17 people dead and 14 more injured at Marjory Douglas Stoneman High School.
The march is taking place on March 24th.
