A$AP Rocky’s time in jail has become a factor in Donald Trump’s ongoing impeachment inquiry.
The New York Times reported that the United States Embassy in Kiev official, David Holmes, testified that he overheard Trump on the phone with Gordon D. Sondland, American ambassador to the European Union.
On top of confirming that Trump did speak to Sondland about getting Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden, he revealed interesting, but no so surprising, details about their conversation about the rapper’s then legal troubles overseas.
Trump publicly commented that he wanted to help Rocky and even went viral for making the most corniest reference to his name. However, Holmes recollected, Sondland told Trump that Rocky “should have pled guilty.”
Holmes’ also provided a written testimony that read Sondland advised Donald Trump to “let him [Rocky] get sentenced, play the racism card, give him a ticker-tape when he comes home.” He purportedly said Sweden “should have released him on your word.” Sondland remarked that even if Trump couldn’t do anything to help Rocky, he could “tell the Kardashians you tried.”
A$AP Rocky is set to return to the country next month to perform in Stockholm, which is where he was also arrested.
The ‘Invasion of Privacy’ rapper dropped the bomb during an Instagram livestream on Sunday night.
