Insecure creator and star Issa Rae will topline Fox’s romantic comedy, American Princess, from director Stella Meghie.
Paul Feig is producing with Jessie Henderson through their Fox-based Feigco Entertainment flag. Brendan O’Brien will also produce.
Rae will play an American lady who moves to London, winds up drawn into a universe of riches and high society, and begins to look all starry eyed in an exceptionally surprising manner. The content was written by Amy Aniobi, who has worked with Rae on Insecure as a writer and co-executive producer.
Issa Rae stars in the Fox drama The Hate U Give as activist April Ofrah, who helps Amandla Stenberg’s character find her voice and talk up. She and Larry Wilmore made HBO’s, Insecure, which pursues the friendship of two ladies as they manage their flaws and endless awkward interactions on a day-to-day basis. HBO renewed the series for a fourth season in September.
