James Brown was a prolific singer who is known as the “Godfather of Soul,” and is one of the most iconic figures in the entire funk genre.
His unique voice and stage presence influenced many artists after him including Michael Jackson.
James Brown used his platform to advocate for social activism in songs like “America Is My Home” and “Black and Proud,” which became an anthem for black pride.
The singer passed away in 2006 but every May 3rd we celebrate his life, and Two Bees TV is celebrating by revisiting 5 Hip Hop songs that sample the late singer.
Many veterans like the Notorious B.I.G. sampled James Brown a few times, as well as some newer artists like Kendrick Lamar and Nicki Minaj.
