Meek Mill had an amazing year in 2019. Although he didn’t release much music, he made huge strides in prison reform and his personal case.
He was finally off of probation after getting a new judge and trial for his decade old case. The Philly emcee released the Free Meek project through Amazon documenting his struggles with the prison system.
But everyone didn’t view this moment as a W. Former Philadelphia police officer, Saqueta Williams, appeared in the doc on the Philly’s “Do Not Call” list. The list was compiled of 60 crooked cops who the District Attorney avoids calling due to their tainted credibility.
The list was described as unofficial and “names more than 60 cops whom the district attorney’s office avoids summoning to testify in court, due to credibility issues,” the lawsuit states. Williams argues that the inclusion of her name and photo is defamation and she wants money for the damages.
Williams was arrested for firing her gun during an off-duty altercation but was later acquitted. “It lends the impression to the ordinary person that she was a corrupt police officer. That she had lied or perjured herself, which is not true,” said Williams’ lawyer, Steven F. Marino. “That’s the foundation of the suit.”
Williams is the only officer on the list who is taking legal action against Meek Mill, JAY-Z, and Wenner Media.
