Nelly Responds To St Lunatics’ Ali Ghostwriting Claims

The saga between Nelly and St. Lunatics’ Ali continues.

Ali took to social media and claimed that he wrote the critically-acclaimed Country Grammar album. “I wrote it & he said it and we sold 10,000,000,” Ali wrote in response to a post from Nelly that he perceived as a subliminal message. “‘MY” career was writing you a career. Smh,” he wrote.

The subliminal in question, “It’s called a Career And in it you have Ups and downs .. some never have ups themselves so technically they’ve never had a career they just was apart of someone else..!!” Nelly said.

This isn’t the first time Nelly and Ali’s beef played out publicly.  Earlier this year Ali claimed Nelly “hustled” the entire group to which he replied, “When they said the Lunatics was doing all the legwork and talent shows and all of that, that was us. He didn’t do that.”

The back-and-forth comes after Nelly was honored with the I Am Hip Hop Award at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards. He took the stage and performed a medley of his hits like “Hot In Herre,” “Dilemma,” “Tip Drill” and “Air Forces Ones” as Paul Wall and Jermaine Dupri joined the diamond-selling rapper on stage.
