Nike’s Colin Kaepernick Ad Set to Air During NFL’s Opening Telecast

Any inquiries concerning whether Nike may back down from their decision of aligning with Colin Kaepernick amid backlash from Trump and a boycott, the answer is no. Aside from releasing a two-minute video narrated by Kap, the sports brand doubled down by announcing that the video will air during the NFL’s first telecast of the regular season.

The promotion, called “Dream Crazy,” highlights the former quarterback and other star athletes in the Nike gear, including Serena Williams and LeBron James. It encourages watchers to think beyond practical boundaries, utilizing the rousing accounts of those stars and everyday end of the week warriors who defeated sickness or inability to triumph physically.

“Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything,” Mr. Kaepernick says over pictures of him watching a waving American banner posted against a building. Those words appeared in a promotion that was released on Monday declaring that Nike is with Kap, and on a bulletin of him that went up in San Francisco on Tuesday.

“Nike’s ‘Dream Crazy’ campaign will air this week during sporting events such as the U.S. Open, M.L.B. and college football in addition to ‘Thursday Night Football,’ ” Josh Benedek, a Nike spokesman, said.

Greg Hughes, a spokesman for NBC Sports, confirmed the sports apparel brand purchased airtime for a 90-second version of the digital ad released on Wednesday. Nike is the league’s official uniform sponsor, so this is very interesting.
