Queen Latifah is Set to Host ‘Black Girls Rock!’

Queen Latifah is nothing short of amazing and she continues to prove why she is such an influential figure to young girls and women everywhere. The MC will be hosting Black Girls Rock! on August 26th at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, located in her hometown, Newark.

The Center will have the honor of hosting a very important guest list of black queens that reign in their industry and career. Back in 2013, Latifah was honored alongside Patti LaBelle and Venus Williams. She expressed her excitement to be a part of such an empowering event especially with it taking place in her own city.

“I’m happy it’s happening in Newark. I was born here, and I always try to come home, to let everyone know in Newark, Irvington, East Orange, Jersey City, that we can dream, and we can make those dreams reality,” Queen Latifah said.

When it came to who was chosen to represent the event this year, CEO Beverly Bond had a few words regarding her decision.

“Queen Latifah is the epitome of black excellence, hip hop royalty, and black girl magic! She has been a longtime supporter of BLACK GIRLS ROCK! and has been honored at both our televised and pre-televised shows. I’m so thrilled to welcome her back to the BLACK GIRLS ROCK! stage as host.”
