Regina King Takes Home Third Emmy for Canceled Series, ‘Seven Seconds’

Words by Melissa Gabriel

The Emmy awards which were held this Monday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles had some amazing highlights. One unforgettable moment was Regina King being crowned with lead actress in a limited series.

King knocked out her competition which included Jessica Biel for USA’s, The Sinner, Laura Dern for HBO’s, The Tale, Michelle Dockery for Netflix’s, Godless, Edie Falco for NBC’s, Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders, and Sarah Paulson for FX’s, American Horror Story: Cult.

Now, King is no stranger to winning Emmy’s as she already has two Emmy’s for supporting actress for ABC’s, American Crime.

As she accepted her award King says, “I wasn’t really expecting this, but I am so grateful, TV Academy”.  She thanked Netflix “for creating an opportunity to tell a story, hold a mirror up to what’s going on today.”

Congrats queen. Now that’s what you call Black Girl Magic!
