Serena Williams pulled out of the last Grand Slam tournament of the year citing a hamstring injury.
“After careful consideration and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the US Open to allow my body to heal completely from a torn hamstring,” Williams announced on Instagram.
Williams’ coach, Patrick Mouratoglou wrote in his own post, “It is heartbreaking, but this is the only possible decision.”
Before injuring her hamstring, Serena Williams recently recovered from an injury to her right leg at her first-round match at Wimbledon in June.
But this isn’t the end for the 6-time U.S. Open champion who concluded her announcement with “I’ll see you soon.”
