Out of the 25 songs on Drake’s new album, Scorpion, “In My Feelings” became a viral sensation thanks to the dance created by New York comedian, Shiggy. Of course, it’s a bop, but it’s safe to say that #DotheShiggy and #InMyFeelingsChallenge are no less than two factors that added to the tune’s No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
On Tuesday, Shiggy and Drake met and shared photographs on social media, and soon a few online journals, including Kollege Kidd, started asserting that Drizzy compensated the Queens native $250,000 for helping the tune come to No. 1. In any case, amid an Instagram Live video, Shiggy denied getting any cash from Drake.
In the live recording, Shiggy proposes that this was his first time hearing about any money. “N****s is lying,” he says at one point. “$250,000? What kind of shit is going on, man?” Later, he told someone in the background: “Yo, blogs is crazy.”
DJ Akademiks took to Twitter to emphasize that he had “official confirmation” that the Toronto rapper did not compensate the Instagram sensation.
Regardless, the two met and Drake did openly recognize that Shiggy is partly responsible for the song’s success.
The ‘Invasion of Privacy’ rapper dropped the bomb during an Instagram livestream on Sunday night.
