Colin Kaepernick is the face of Nike’s latest ad in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their “Just Do It” slogan. “Believe in something even if it means sacrificing everything,” the add reads over a black and white close up shot of the former quarterback.
Many people thought Kap was fitting for the campaign considering that his football career went down the toilet two years go once he decided to quietly speak out against police brutality by taking a knee during the National Anthem before a game.
On the other hand, you can’t please everyone and there are some people who are big mad about Colin Kaepernick starring in the ad campaign. They’re going as far as launching a Nike boycott.
Nike did what many corporations are afraid to do in the middle of heated racial tensions during a Donald Trump administration. Many jumped to Kap’s defense, while others are burning their sportswear from the brand. Either way, I’m with Kap!
