The Surviving R. Kelly docuseries reignited the conversation about consent in the music industry. Many social media users pointed out other instances where rappers sexualized underaged girls, including Drake.
Shortly after the series’ first two installments premiered a 2010 video of the Toronto rapper kissing and lightly groping a 17-year-old fan’s breast on stage. He asked her age in front of the crowd, and she responded, “17.”
“I can’t go to jail yet, man!” Drake jokingly says in the video. “Why do you look like that?! You thick. Look at all this… Well look, I had fun. I don’t know whether I should feel guilty or not, but I had fun. I like the way your breasts feel against my chest. I just want to thank you.”
Twitter users immediately began highlighting his previous controversy related to young girls. The Scorpion rapper recently raised eyebrows after going on an intimate dinner date with 18-year-old Bella Harris, who he met when she was only 16. People also blew up about his seemingly good friendship with Stranger Things‘, Millie Bobby Brown.
The ‘Invasion of Privacy’ rapper dropped the bomb during an Instagram livestream on Sunday night.
