92-Year-Old Woman Kills Son to Avoid Being Sent to Nursing Home

Anna Mae Blessing, 92, shot and killed her 72-year-old son because he wanted to take her to a nursing home.

The incident happened on July 2nd in Fountain Hills, Maricopa County. Mrs. Blessing’s son wanted her to leave because she “had become difficult to live with.” She went to confront her son about his decision with two firearms concealed in her robe. During the argument, she took one out and fired at her son. One of the guns was a gift from her late husband, Anna Mae said.

The elderly woman had plans on taking her own life and attempted to shoot at her son’s girlfriend, but she was able to wrestle both guns out of her hands before contacting law enforcement.

“You took my life, so I’m taking yours,” she reportedly said as she was escorted out of the Arizona home she shared with her son and his girlfriend.
