So many artists have built their reputation from sampling older songs, but Akon decided to bless Tekashi 6ix9ine with a 2020 rendition of his classic hit, “Locked Up.”
6ix9ine posted a video of himself, with a frontal that’s snatched to the Gawds, and the Konvict rapper previewing the remix to the 2004 single.
“LOCKED UP PART 2 IM ON ALBUM MODE,” 6ix9ine captioned the video. “THIS ALBUM GOING CRAZYYYYYYY.”
The chorus is exactly the same as the disgraced rapper reflects on his recent prison stint and cooperating with the feds.
Most people have distanced themselves from Tekashi, but Akon continues to flaunt their new friendship. Thankfully, the Verzuz battle that the “Don’t Matter” rapper tried to instigate never happened.
Akon recently spoke with DJ Whoo Kid on Instagram live and defended Tekashi’s snitching.”With Tekashi it’s a little different because he comes from a generation that really didn’t have no moral ethic,” Akon said during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid. “I can’t really speak on why he would do that, but most likely it’s for the obvious reasons. But everyone goes through something in their lives that propels them to do things that they feel is in the best interest of themselves. And I think, you really can’t blame him, if what he’s saying is the truth.”
Of course, Tekashi’s latest music effort is met with negative reviews. What are your thoughts on Akon collaborating with him?
