The anticipated Ashanti vs. Keyshia Cole Verzuz battle has been postponed. Originally, the battle had been scheduled for December 12th, 2020. However, the two singers’ battle was postponed after Ashanti confirming she has COVID. Singer Ashanti published her findings in an Instagram post by saying:
“Hey y’all I can’t believe I’m saying this but I tested positive for COVID-19,” the “Foolish” singer announced on Instagram. “I’m ok and not in any pain. I’m actually down to do the verzuz from my house… We’re trying to figure it all out.”
Immediately after the singer made her post the official Verzuz account made a post stating the battle was rescheduled. The battle was scheduled for this Saturday, January 9th. It’s now the day before the scheduled battle when Verzuz releases another statement highlighting their concern for everyone’s safety.
“This has been an emotional week. In addition, as COVID-19 numbers continue to increase, safety is a top priority for us,” read a statement from the Verzuz team. “As much as we enjoy having everyone together in the same room, to protect the artists and everyone who works with us in putting the shows together, we’ll be going back to separate locations for a bit.”
It’s looking like we’re going to have to wait a little bit longer for this battle between the two singers. However, Black Twitter doesn’t seem to happy about the wait. One user tweeted:
“Keyshia Cole Vs Ashanti postponed again…………..to be honest, we don’t care no more respectfully”
Others seem really upset.
