Barack Obama Suggest Hip Hop’s Trump Endorsements Influenced Increased Support Among Black Men

Barack Obama is doing a press run for his upcoming memoir, A Promised Land, and he’s not holding back during these interviews.

He spoke to The Atlantic about politics and the 2020 Presidential election.

There’s data that proves more Black men voted for Donald Trump in this election compared to the 2016 election. Barack offered an explanation for that. “People are writing about the fact that Trump increased his support among Black men [in the 2020 presidential election], and the occasional rapper who supported Trump,” he told the publication.

“I have to remind myself that if you listen to rap music, it’s all about the bling, the women, the money,” he continued. “A lot of rap videos are using the same measures of what it means to be successful as Donald Trump is. Everything is gold-plated. That insinuates itself and seeps into the culture.”

The number of Black men that voted for Trump in the 2020 election increased by 2 percent. But thankfully Black women came through to save the day per usual.

Barack Obama released the Promised Land-themed playlist that included “Lose Yourself” by Eminem, and “My 1st Song” by Jay-Z.
