EXCLUSIVE: The Real Reason Why Bobby Shmurda Hasn’t Released Any Music Yet

Bobby Shmurda is finally home and free to release new music after serving six years in prison for conspiracy and drug charges. But is he really “free?”

Fans are anticipating new music from the Brooklyn rapper. However, all we’ve gotten so far are pictures of him recording at his in-home studio. This unreleased music hasn’t seen the light of day because Bobby Shmurda is having issues with his label, Epic Records.

Apparently, Roc Nation is interested in bringing Bobby Shmurda on board. Unfortunately, he’s still signed to Epic Records and still owes them an album; due to him not being able to drop one before he was indicted in December 2014.

Shortly after his (well-funded) release, Bobby Shmurda was photographed with Solange‘s baby’s father, Julez Smith; who also manages Kaash Paige and Maxo Kream under Roc Nation.

It seems as though once “Computers” was released in December, he had a meeting with Epic Records President, Sylvia Rhone. The Brooklyn rappers are a duo, who also have their independent label GS9 Records. So, it’s unclear what the future holds.

Before Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel, and the rest of the GS9 crew were indicted they had the world Shmoney Dancing to infectious hits like “Hot N*gga” and “Shmoney Dance.” Fans are sitting at the edge of their seats waiting for Bobby’s debut musical effort post-prison.

But Rowdy on the other hand, has his collaboration with Funk Flex, “Re-Route,” and the Nav-assisted single, “Jesse Owens.”
