R&B singer Chloe Bailey is gracing the VMA’s stage in a solo performance for her new song “ Have Mercy”. The singer is ½ of Chloe x Halle with her younger sister Halle Bailey. After performing at the preshow in 2020 with her sister, she is stepping out on her own.
On Chloe’s 23rd birthday she teased her first solo single called “ Have Mercy” along with a video tease she captioned it “ This is 23…. Have Mercy coming Soon.
This will be the first time we hear a live debut of “ Have Mercy” after weeks of teasing fans. An MTV press release says the track is set to lead off an upcoming solo album.
Chloe and her sister have been in partnership for a while and despite their joint success it’s refreshing to see them both do their own thing, Halle has taken a break from music to work as Princess Ariel in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid but Chloe isn’t going solo for good. In an interview with Essence Girls United, Halle Bailey said,
“We are always working constantly, but what is so exciting is that Chloe is starting to release her own solo music, and I have just finished this wild two-year ride of filming The Little Mermaid. Next year, we are looking to tour our [Ungodly Hour] album together since we rolled that out during quarantine pandemic time.”
The 2021 VMAs will take place on September 12 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Will you be tuning in to watch Chloe’s performance?
